In Memoriam
– Tom Barton
We are sad to report that longtime advisor Tom Barton of Venice, Florida,
and Belgrade, Maine, passed away on Saturday, February 8, after a period of
declining health.
With Commonwealth for more than 20 years, Tom headed up Barton
Financial Associates. In addition to his role as a financial advisor, he and
his wife, Jan, owned and managed Woodrest Cottages in Belgrade. Tom
contributed to numerous local charities throughout his life, such as the American Cancer Society,
Hospice, Maine General, Colby College, and the Humane Society, and he served as vice chairman
of the Waterville United Way.
Tom valued education and contributed generously to all his grandchildren’s, nieces’, and nephews’
tuition, encouraging them to continue their education. He was truly a man who made a difference,
and his good works will continue on in the lives he touched and the examples he set for a strong
work ethic and loyalty.
Commonwealth extends our deepest sympathy to Tom’s family, friends, and colleagues.
